Anti-slip products for school floors
More than 12 people are injured each year in an accident at daycare, kindergarten, school or university.
For your safety
- Before choosing a floor covering, think about what you want to use it for and where it will be installed.
- Regarding the slip resistance of the floor covering, ask for a certificate and have it verified.
- Avoid having a step or a difference in level in places of passage.
- Plan a concept for the care and cleaning of the floor covering already in the planning phase, as well as during construction and operation.
- Use only recommended cleaning products. *

Non-slip and abrasion-resistant floor coverings must be installed in schools. Their function is shock absorption and they must be easy to maintain. Depending on whether the floor is walked on with shoes or bare feet (e.g. in showers or changing rooms), the requirements vary depending on the use of the facility. The objective is to reduce the risk of slipping or falling by having a suitable floor that complies with current standards. A slippery, damaged or poorly cleaned floor increases the risk of falling. The use ofan anti-slip product is indicated.
Precautions to take
- Remove soap or shampoo residue from showers.
- During cleaning, signal temporarily slippery surfaces to the bollards.
- Use specific products and cleaning methods intended for each type of floor.
- Having dirt absorption systems in front of entrances helps keep the interior of buildings clean.
- During renovation or construction of a building, check the materials used on the floors if they meet the required standards.
- Limit and mitigate differences in level between different rooms.
- By placing markings on the nosings of stairs, you improve the visibility of users.
- Clear snow from access areas regularly.
Have a professional analyze the slip resistance of your flooring to ensure proper compliance.
